Is it true the only way to fix a damaged XD9 extractor is by sending the pistol to customer service? Springfield does not sell the extractor to the public?

That is my understanding. You might post the same question on XDTalk or just contact Springfield directly. The lifetime warranty follows the gun so even if you are not the original owner you should be good to go.

Are you sure the lifetime warranty follows the gun? I had an XD40 tactical I bought used. I had a round blow out the case which messed up the extractor. I think paid shipping to send the gun in. They replaced the extractor and found the frame had a crack I didn't see. They replaced the frame and refinished the slide but charged a very reasonable charge like $70 for the frame. I think I had to pay them around $95 total. I think normally springfields deal is if you aren't the original owner they will still fix the gun for free since they won't sell the parts. But I don't think they cover the shipping though. In there defense their return shipping was pretty cheap like $25. Prior to this XD I had a pre XD, a HS 2000. I had the same problem with parts. Springfield said I couldn't buy replacement parts for it but they would fix it for free but I would have to pay shipping both ways. Paying shipping both ways gets pretty expensive if all you need is a $10 or $20 part. MarkThat is my understanding. You might post the same question on XDTalk or just contact Springfield directly. They are great.
I have an XD in the Springfield Custom shop right now.
They have a special agreement with FedEx for two way shipping.
Contact them first. They will email a label and charge you when they return the gun.
My XD40 is in for hard chrome, match barrel and Trijcon HD sights.
bought it and never fired it. Just sent straight to custom shop.
The cool thingabout the custom shop is the warranty stays valid, no matter what they do. The custom shop is also very reasonable.Comment
