    CZ 75 Compact 9mm or Glock 26

Does anyone have any personal experience with the CZ 75 Compact 9mm handgun? Reliability, recoil, fit and finish? As I understand it, the CZ 75 Compact has a steel frame and weighs 2 pounds and should absorb recoil better than a polymer Glock 26.

A friend is looking for a compact magazine fed HOME DEFENSE gun for him and his wife. So recoil is an important factor as well as being able to easily rack the slide for his wife's small hands.

I have read that the Glock 26 has some snappy recoil due to its light weight. Any thoughts will be appreciated.

I shoot the glock 26 gen3 better than my CZ75B and the recoil of the 26 is not really much compare to the CZ75 but it is me, your friend should rent them both and try because everyone is difference both are good IMO. Hope it help

      Both are good.
If you already have another block, a CZ would be nice.
      Vice versa.

Compact home defense guns wouldn't really be my thing, but it sounds like your friend is thinking compact because of his wife. I love CZs, I currently own a SP-01 and previously owned a CZ75 compact. A full sized Cz is in a whole other class compared to the compact. I practically CAN'T miss anything with the full sized, not so for the compact. Most people end up being fine with it, but there is less slide surface to grip on CZs which some find make it difficult to reach (it's really not that big a deal). If I was buying a fun with my wife in mind, it would be a smaller framed .357, you really can't go wrong if the goal is HD.

Have you held both in your hand?
The G26 feels like half a grip, the CZ compact has room for your pinky finger.
The CZ compact weighs as much as a full size, it's just 1/2" shorter in height and length. Have both, shoot the CZ much better, but the Glock has it's role.

I like CZ better then glock, but glocks are great guns, the stock parts are cheap, and are easy to work on your self. Agree with above CZ your whole hand fits on the grip. I had a G27 and it was a great shooter, I dont like the mag extenders, the grip was ok. Cajun gun works has some after market parts for the CZ, that will lighten up the double action and the single action pull. Why don,t they just buy a full size or a G19 if for HD. they have slim grips for CZ also.

CZ compact gets my vote. Then again I'm partial to CZ's. I was once a Glock guy but changed over to CZ's due to the ergonomics.

I've owned both and the CZ is more comfortable for me.

HI Ya, I recommend a visit to a LGS; for fit and feel.
however here are a few observations from a CZ75 and Springfield XD (similar to Glock) owner:
CZ has physical safety, Glock internal hence Glock is quicker to access especially if said persons are not competent shooters.
CZ is heavy but these folks want it for home defense so no matter, G27 is light but why go compact if they are keeping it at home?
that leaves only one question; are they going to carry? then the G26 would fit better but it hurts to shoot so they need a G17 to practice with. Why not get a G17 and be done with it?

                    They are very different.

I think the compact CZ is just about the perfect gun, being a DA/SA fan.

I dunno, as much as I love my CZ, I'd pick my G19 as my goto SHTF pistol. It's utterly reliable and easy to manipulate.

Tough one, both great. If I had to pick I would go with the glock and a glock 19 as others have suggested. Make sure his wife is comfortable handling whatever they choose, compact is prob the way to go as full size might be too large for her hands.

You're comparing two drastically different handguns. Only you will be able to decide what works for you, so please, get to the range and try them both.

FWIW, I have personally found that the CZ compact to feel AMAZING in the hand, but have some quirks that I am not fond of. Mine has a very tight magwell, and the slide is very stiff when trying to lock back or chamber in comparison to the Glock. Also, my compact will not feed Blazer Brass.

                            Good luck.

I've shot both, and I'd go for the CZ. It feels better in my hands. That said, my hands are not yours or your wife's. Call up your local ranges, see if they have them, and you and your wife go shoot them and decide.
