I just picked up an EMP 9mm. If I could carry it, I would.

            Check out the CZ-75

Heard really good things about them and they offer a compact and an alloy framed compact.
Try them out at a range before you buy.

A used P2000SK or a USPc 9 would fall in that price range.

I own and carry both (XDsc 9 and G26), they are each good weapons. I do like the grip safety on the XD, especially when holstering. Pearce grip extensions are a must, IMHO. Either one will serve you well- see which feels better in your hand.

If you enjoy an XD40 now, the XDs likely will "point" better for you then the Glock since the grip angle on the XDs will be the same as your XD40.

The Glock will point "high" if you raise the sights to where you think they should be with your eyes closed.

It isn't a huge deal, but it's easier to train if you stick to a single platform.
