Sig SAS Gen 2 vs. Current Model.

If you have an opportunity to buy between an SAS Gen 2 Non Rail 229 and Current model Non Rail P229, which one will you choose and why?

Never had Non Rail before and it would be nice to know the pros and cons of the two before gettting one. Thanks!

Well if you plan on carrying, the SAS model is much better since it is anti-snag. Sig "melts" the edges of the gun for a smoother draw.

For home defense, I prefer a rail so you can mount a light or laser/light combo but if you have another handgun for that purpose the non-rail versions are nice looking handguns.

I like the anti-snag aspect of it, thanks. Yes, I already have one with rail so it would be nice with variation. Do you know when did Sig started producing them ( SAS Gen 2 )?

Depends which current non railed P229 you are interested in.

Is it the M11 A-1? The P229 with full height rear serrations and the e2 grips?

I had a P220 SAS Gen 2 and it was a sweet gun.
Ergos, looks and feel of the gun were outstanding
          I vote for the SAS.

I think I'm wrong on this one, there's no modern Non Rail P229? It's either Non Rail or the SAS Gen 2 Non Rail? Which one is better is what I'm really trying to find out.

I don't know much about Sig's older model that's why I'd like to know the differences.

Just the rounded corners alone is very attractive to me so I'm leaning towards it.

I believe the Gen 2 was introduced in 2009:
