1911 bull barrel

I'm considering purchasing an off roster 1911 with a bull barrel. I've only shot 1911s with a bushing, so would appreciate anyone who has experience with both bushing and bull barrel 1911s sharing pros and cons? Preference? Can I SSE the bull barrel?

I have both types and prefer the bull barrel. Shoot it side by side and you can appreciate the difference in recoil for quicker follow-up shots. The con is some competition do not allow bull barrels.

And yes you can SSE a bull barrel, with OC armory.

Mine has bull barrel and I run in L10 class in USPSA and IPSC.

Not only I can tell the difference between bushing barrel and bull barrel recoil but accuracy as well. I can actually switch between both barrels and use them so I have done comparisons back to back.

Thanks guys, this helps a lot. I'm in NoCal and am checking with my FFL to see if he can SSE a bull barrel. Vin63, assume you mean the M1911 forum. I'm a member so I'll peruse it as well.
