My mind has turned to Jell-O researching the purchase of a 1911 the past few weeks. Just when I thought I knew what to look for in a 1911, something new comes up. For example, I was leaning towards a Kimber until I read the mainspring housing is plastic. Then I read (for a stainless steel pistol) it can be changed via a third party vendor (and its a DIY procedure but don't know if the 'carpet' would match the 'drapes'). Also, I read there are fewer MIM parts in a Sig than a Kimber (less to go wrong). Then again the Sig has an external extractor (usually requires more maintenance over time) and I'd prefer an internal extractor.
Can someone provide a link to a website presenting the options available in a 1911? I suppose I'm looking for an article, chart or spreadsheet that highlights pros/cons of various 1911s. I know it may be subjective but I can decipher what is right for me.
