    Handgun "Registration"

This is a question from my father.

He purchased his first and only handgun back on 12/31/90 at a FFL.

During this time would it be filed in a handgun registry or did he only have a background check?

That was before electronic DROS information was required, but it is very likely that that gun appears in the state Automated Firearm System (AFS) associated with his name and address.

Paper records of FFL handgun transaction (sent to Sacramento since 1924) have been entered, at least as far back as the 1980s.

Frozen in 2015, it is falling out of date and I can no longer edit the content. But much of it is still good!
