I carry my LCP because of size. If I can carry more gun I do, but sometimes I don't have a choice because of clothing.

I liked the following .380 ammo test. It helped determine some rounds that met the FBI protocol (based on their gel anyway) for handgun ammo: http://shootingthebull.net/blog/fina...cp-ammo-quest/

Up till 1972, Mexico had .38 Super's selling out of every Sears Roebuck to the General Public. (Among many other 9mm+ calibers).

It wasn't till 1972 till the dreaded gun law was enacted and took about 5 years to take effect countrywide.

Many civilians still cling on to their 1911's, they just tossed (hid) the slide and barrel and slapped on a 22 conversion kit, hence, making their guns, legal.

As per the 9mm maks, they were imported & smuggled to Mexico from central american commie countries. Remember up till 1972 all handgun calibers were legal in Mexico to civilians. It was commonplace to import firearms into Mexico up till that point.

Right now, the Mexican Gov just sells the ammo for the Maks to civilians.
But they do sell to civilians 380 acp handguns in a wide array of brands. Not models, just makes. Glock: 2 models, Beretta 1 model, CZ: 3 models, Taurus 1 model, Tanfoglio: 2 models.

.380 is called civilian ammo of choice, because no Military or Law Enforcement in the world would trust it to save their lives. I could maybe see it in a back up gun, but not a primary or only gun. But personally I don't even trust it enough for a back up. My BUG is 9mm or .38+P.
Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.

                    Very informative. Thanks.

Curious, when did Mexico's lawlessness come about? Did it get out of control before or after the 1972 gun ban? Or has it always been this way?

                        No completely accurate.
A main division of the Ecuadorian Air Force uses the Bersa Thunder 380 as their official sidearm.

Italy used 380 as their official government caliber up til they adopted the 9x21.
                        They still don't use 9x19.

I know LOTS of LE that carry .380 as a back up.

.380 helps with rule number one of a gun fight - have a gun. As the pictures above point out - .380's are just smaller and easier to hide.

If somebody's got a 9 the same size of my LCP - I haven't seen it.
I have Airweights and Glocks I can carry but -> the LCP goes most of the time, small, light and goes bang. What's not to like? That said I've got a new Sig P238 that sure shoots good!

                            I don't know.
I suspect after the drug boom in the late 70's.
But there are many good law-abiding, gun-owning people down there who have nothing to do with the cartel/drugs.

Sadly, Mexico's geographical location does not help any. It was just a matter of time.
Add to that for some, the lack of morality, folks who have fallen away from God, the devil-worshiping (holy-death crap), the agnostic, the surplus of ignorance, misplaced values and you'll have a concoction of the most cold, brutal and ungodly people you can imagine.
But just as the liberals and the LGBT agenda groups stateside, the people that work directly for the cartels in Mexico are a minority. But they are the loudest bunch.
