    Glock: 17 & 19 & Cs?

Looking to get into a Glock. Anyone have any leaning to one of these models and why?!
I know this is a very talked over discussion so excuse my ignorance. I have just not found any data to lean me to one or the other (other than sight radius).

I am going to be semi competing with this gun, using it for classes and possibly using for an under the bed gun. This is not my first handgun, nor will it be a carry gun.
It will be running a TLR1 or 4. Not sure which yet as I have both, but one of them for sure. I will be having DefenseWorx make me a custom kydex holster, so that doesn't play into the decision either.

    What say ye?

Shoot both. The fullsize (17) Glocks don't fit my hands well. The compacts (19) fit me like a glove.

I would only get the 26 if I was planning on using it for concealed purposes. Of the other two, I would see which one fits your hand best. I like the 17. I always have. And I never had a reason to go with the 19. But I also have big hands. If you have any old high (standard) capacity magazines for either, that might make a difference. Otherwise it all comes down to the one that fits.

Go to a local gun store and hold each one. See which one feels better in hand. They both shoot very similar. The 19 has a slightly shorter grip so larger hands may not like. But you can't go wrong with either model.

Shoot both. Get them all. 17RTF2 Meprolight night sight for home. 19RTF2 TRUGLO TFO for carry. Glock 26 would be excellent choice for concealed carry. I'm not to sure about "C" models for home defense, comp flash may distract yourself in the dark. Goodluck with your quest.

Have you thought about the G34? If this is going to be for competition, shooting classes, and HD, its hard to beat the 34...

As mentioned above, take a serious look at the 34. Same grip as the 17, with a longer slide and barrel. Better for conpetition, and HD.

The diameter of the 17 and 19 grip is identical, so if you like the feel of one, the other should feel just about the same. The top finger grove on the 19 is a bit higher than on the 17. To be honest until I read that here on Calguns, I never noticed the difference. I have both and shoot the 34 10 to 1 relative to the 19. Unless you intend the carry concealed, don’t ever consider the 26, much too small and “clunky” for much of anything other than concealed carry, and for that use I much prefer my 19.

I like the 34, but the price is a bit out of range.

I shoot the 17 better. Its longer sight radius and longer grip makes it better for me. Many people choose the 19 because it's easier to conceal and not because they shoot it better than the 17.

The flash out of "c" models will not blind you. I say go for the 17.

I have both G19 and G17, I shoot both equally well and wouldn't be able to tell you which I can shoot better. By better I mean as far as accuracy goes so I doubt the longer sight radius has any measurable difference that is dicernable from just having more reps on a particular platform. That being said the G19 has noticably snappier recoil than the G17 so given the same amount of repetitions I'd wager I would shoot tighter groups at speed with the G17.

Since you menitoned that you'll be taking a class with it, as far as the Compensated versions go I would suggest avoiding them for now. Just imagine doing contact drills on targets with all that blast going up into your face.

One thing I was considering doing was cutting down my G17 to accept G19 mags. Basically you get the "best" of both worlds with the longer sight radius, less snappy recoil of the G17 but the concealability of the G19. I am not sure where you would fit as far as USPSA/IDPA/Whatever division you decide to compete in so that might be a concern.

                          I'm going to buy a 30 I believe.

I have also considered this. I saw this on the interwebs. I thought it was a great idea. I would then go over the grip and stipple it. I think you would barely be able to notice. But thats a ballsy move for a brand new gun.

^I agree. I got the 17 before the 19. The longer sight radius on the 17 helps with shot accuracy. Size and concealment picture is why I carry the 19.
