    S&W M&P 9 Pro

I am debating I doing a transfer from my sister for her M&P 9 Pro with the 5 inch barrel. I have a Glock 17 so not sure if I should get another 9mm. The M&P is brand new never shot. She has always shot her assigned weapon (Kansas PD). Also how would I go about doing the transfer, can she bring it here and have a shop do the SSE in California. Thanks.

She ships from her FFL to your FFL. Your FFL would have to do the SSE or have her FFL do the SSE before sending to you if possible. Either way, FFLs need to be involved on both ends. She's not a CA resident so she can't simply come here to do it face to face.

I wasn't sure if she would be able to bring it with her if she drove out, because she is law enforcement. Thanks for the reply.

I'm not 100% sure this is correct unless CA requirement. Per federal guidelines she can ship ups or fedex to an ffl that does the SSE or she can convert and send to the ffl. I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

Edit: found it here on Calguns! Out of state transfers --

Please note that if a private person wants to obtain a firearm from a private person who resides in another State, the firearm will have to be shipped to an FFL in the buyer’s State. The FFL will be responsible for record keeping. See also Question B3

She can. Just do the transaction at an ffl. I interfamilial transfer?

Don't forget you will also pay Ca tax on the firearm, because it is not a PPT if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, she can bring it into the state and you can do the transfer at an FFL that can do an SSE on it. Remember that roster applies and intrafamilial is not available to you, so you have to go SSE.
