Gold plating services.. How much and where?

Who does gold plating? How much will it cost?

How about just gold plating the slide? How much is that?

Suggestions, recommendations, referrals, quotes, and etc etc, will be appreciated..

Does anybody on this forum actually own a gold plated gun? Pictures, thoughts and insight?

Gold plating is done at quite a few plating shops. Usually the steel is nickel plated first, then gold plated. I would suggest you look in the yellow pages or google "metal finishing" in your area.

The only thing a man should gold plate is electrical contacts.

Besides, if you're serious about the CCW you mentioned in the other thread, carrying a gold plated gun might not be the best idea. First, on the off chance your cover garment moved, the gold would draw instant attention. Also, if you ever were forced to lawfully defend yourself with your CCW piece, I'd feel a lot more comfortable going in front of a jury with something that looks like a tool rather than a gangster gun. $0.02.

Haha. I know their are a lot of mix thoughts about a gold plated gun. But I had always wanted one. I know there really is no practical purpose; other than it looks cool, at least to some people.

I am serious about the CCW permit, and hope I get it. If I do, I wont do the gold plating, and invest in a KelTec P32. But if I don't, then I'm going to gold plate something. Probably a Kimber. Black frame with the slide and grip safety gold plated. And all controls polished, with wood grips, and gold screws. Yummy!

I'll take a look in the yellow pages or yahoo local it.. metal/nickel/gold finishing/plating services..
