    RIA Tactical Vs Springfield Milspec.

    Hi Guys,

Turners has RIA Tactical for $450 this week, how do you compare it with Springfield Milspec? Do you think its worth the extra $$? I know the finish on RIA is not great, but I am just looking for a shooter.

I already have 2 Colt 70 series 1911s that are too nice to shoot :-)

    Please advice.

    thanks

Taking the RIA Tactical .45 over the Springfield Armory MilSpec should be a no-brainer. The RIA comes with better sights, a beavertail and an ambidexterous thumb safety.

Shoot and modify one of your Series 70's instead. They're some of my favorites as base guns for full custom build 1911's

Failing that, it's really an apples to oranges comparison; a Springfield Loaded would be the comparison to a RIA Tactical on a features basis. If money is no object I take the Springfield as I prefer forged frames over cast frames and standard dimension sight cuts and the overall better finish.

None of this is meant as a knock to the RIA Tactical as I think its a great value for the money.

They're both good and have good customer service. I'd get the Springfield. Simple and will retain its value. But the rock is also awesome.

For the lower-end (price wise) of 1911's the RIA Tac is hard to beat. I have one and am very happy with it. Had to send it back two months ago (won't boar you with the details) & Yadda Yadda Yadda, got it back in two weeks, all shipping costs covered by ARMSCOR and it's perfect now. Their warranty is great in my experience.
I like Springfield too; I have a Loaded SS that has been perfect so I havn't needed the warranty service yet but I hear it's one of the best around.
My opinion: Low end get the RIA. Mid-range or $1500+ get a loaded or TRP. If your looking for a pistol to mod then I don't know what to say cause I have not done that yet-my 1911's are stock (except for grips). Good luck.

Is the sale for 4" 1911 or Full size? Ammo bros have full size tactical for $469.

Does that look like a full size?
Fullsize 5" has 8rd factory mag, 3.5" has 7rd mag because it has a shorter grip.

I payed 419.98 for my fullsize GI 6 months ago at turners

Where did you see that price? The only 1911s i see on AB are Citadel (449.99) or Taylor Tactical (429.99)
