They got rid of them because a family sued when their lame kid got his finger pinched in the hammer. FAIL

I think he lost a finger and I think a lot of the toy guns for sale went byebye also. Typical PC bs. Like the pirates no longer chase girls in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.

I remember those guns being LOUD when I was a kid- it scared me

In the Hong Kong disneyland, they didn't have the guns- I was waiting for the bang, and got disappointed

Yeah, so what was the deal with Pirates of the Caribean rework? ...completely changed...no more pirates chasing the wimmen...lots less guns...so politically correct that half the fun is gone...

The pirates do still chase the ladies. It has, however, been modified so that a (roughly) equal amount of ladies chase the pirates too.

Yes, the guns are back on the jungle cruise, but with a change. Years ago, they used to "shoot" the animal. Now, they "shoot" up into the air (so safe), turn to the passengers and announce that they have "scared the animal away".

I had a co-worker who works at Disneyland (weekend side job), mentioned that it was a real gun with shoot blanks. Also, it had to be locked up every night.

Well, if you're gonna sue, Disney is the one to do it do. My friends uncle got millions after the yahoos working there on Mr Toads Wild ride weren't paying attention and pushed the button to move the ride as his uncle was stepping off... ran over his foot, tweaked his back, messed up his shoulder, broke or dislocated his kids arm and messed up the kids face as she fell out.

Disneyland.... good times! I have the passes so I go all the time!

My grandfather worked there for years and years (electrician working on the monorails)... oh the stories he told us about behind the scenes. He could get up to 4 people in a day so he'd take me and my friends all the time. Of course we had to wait until he got off work so we'd wander around the park after it closed. Armies of cleaners everywhere. Weird...

Yup, that's exactly what I saw when I was there. Did you happen to get a look at the left side of it?

I hated working at Disneyland. I worked there from late '06 through early '07 to buy my first car in highschool. Worst. Job. Ever. I guess it's cool that they use real revolvers on Jungle Cruise, though.

I went this summer and was glad to see the jungle cruise tour guides armed again.

For the record; Pirates is still a great ride. The women being chased by pirates are holding bottles or food now (implying the pirates are chasing them for their wares). The wife auction is still going on though... apparent moral; it's okay if you PAY for them first.
