    Glock trigger half pressed

When I shoot pictures, I half press shutter button before taking the picture to stabilize the shot. Somehow I transferred this technique to shooting handgun, in particular Glock. I tend to half press the trigger before taking the shot. I think it helps with the shot. Is it bad or good? Are there other people doing it?

You're just taking up the slack right before the break (shot fired), which is normal and done my most people.

I just wouldn't do it on a gun with a true 2.5 or 3 lb trigger, but on a Glock 4.5 or 5 lb trigger then it's no problem.

It's a good thing. It's called "Prepping the trigger." While shooting, you don't completely release the trigger, you just back off till the trigger resests.

That's how you shoot all triggers really. If there is any slack take it up. Rest on the "wall" and slow press the trigger.

On striker fired guns like the Glock, the slack is necessary to disengage the striker block.

That is how you shoot properly.

You'd be amazed at how much "wobble" is introduced by varying trigger pressure (muscle flex in hand, wrist, forearm). The goal is to always minimize muscle changes when shooting, the results will speak for themselves. I am a keep the trigger depressed and reset once on target because keeping the moment of firing muscle configuration returns the pistol more reliably to the same position as when fired, then only reset, fire, repeat.

That is how I do it on all trigger systems: striker fired, DA/SA, SAO, DAO (HK LEM).

Thank you guys. Feel much more comfortable with half pull of the trigger now.

Just make sure you practice a "surprise" break after you prep the trigger. It's pretty easy to still yank at the trigger after prepping it. After prepping, you still want a smooth and even press of the trigger. You can practice different speeds of that final press and each speed will give you different levels of precision. You'll have to determine which speed (level of precision) is necessary for the given situation.
