    Kimber II safety

    Is it true you can't PIN the grip safety in the "on" position on these "II" model Kimber 1911s because the plunger that works the firing pin safety with them be UP and not t[let you disassemble and re-assemble the gun?

      Yes, the push rod will extend above the frame and you won't be able to remove the slide. The same is true for the S&W 1911's except it is a lever rather than a rod that sticks up.

      This is why the manuals say keep your hand off the grip safety when removing or replacing the slide.
