Springfield Range Officer.

Hi,

What do you guys think about Springfield Range Officer? Palmetto has them for $733 and $100 gift certificate. This gun will be for plinking only, I like to have an accurate pistol.

Is it a good deal? and also is it a good target pistol?

Please advice.

Is Range Officer a good 1911? I was thinking about Colt 1991 as a shooter but its little over priced for what you get.

Reviews on the Range Officer are good. In general, Springfield makes a good 1911 - I have a Loaded Stainless and like it with the exception of the sharp edges that could benefit from a dehorning job. I don't know if the Range Officer is the same way; if so, not so easy to dehorn it as refinishing would be required.

As for the off-roster issue, for the benefit of TruWarierQB, one need only find an FFL who can accept it and do a Single-Shot Exemption (SSE) for you.

Great piece, ive put near a 100 rounds through mine without issue. Posts above are accurate, it will require SSE.

But not I. The roster like posted above. It's twin brother the Loaded is just as great with a different look. Which is ON the roster.

The loaded is a very popular 1911 here with many shooters. I love mine. I believe ammo brothers does sell officers if you are dead set on a officer.
