Smith wesson revolver

Seriously thinking about buying a smith wesson model 637. They are currently on sale at turners for $399. Anybody have one? If so, what do you think of it?

It really comes down to what are you going to use it for? They are nice handy little revolvers that are easy to conceal. However I have never known anyone who enjoys taking their Smith air weight to the range and putting more than a handful of rounds through it. A lot of people from what I can tell prefer the hammerless 442 or 642. I've been looking for one off and on for a summer carry gun. They seem to go out of stock pretty quick, so I guess some people must like them.

Well, it's not a great range gun due to the sights and barrel length. And it's not the best pocket-carry CCW due to the hammer. But it's a great belly gun for close in SD work. I use 158 grain LRN for practice. For SD I like the 110 grain +P Hornady Critical Defense.

The bottom line is that you cannot go wrong with a revolver.

I kinda like the hammer for when I go to the desert I can fire some longer shots in SA. Of course for close SD it would be DA only. I have also looked at the 442 hammerless but I find the SA/DA more attractive for some reason.

The 637 was a contender while shopping around for my first snubbie, whose primary use would be fun at the range.

For that reason, I ended up with the 2-1/4" Ruger SP101, which is a joy to shoot and surprisingly accurate.

If your not going to carry, check out a larger frame, like a 686. Loads of fun to shoot, even .357s.

Buy it! It would be a nice little ccw gun. i know a couple guys that carry snub nose .38's

J frame is on the top gun on my carry permit.

The J frames are very easily concealable and not too bad on the hands if you stick mostly with .38 spl during range time. I prefer the 686, although any plans to conceal it are out of the question.

I have a ruger sp101 2.5inch, love it, so I think a 637 is a go, I like the expose hammer look.
