I'm left handed as well....I searched for a .40 cal in the left hand version long long ago when I bought my first pistol ..... and found none. You will get used to it- if you really want one, just buy the ones with ambi controls.....

You'll get used to brass going down the back of your shirt or hitting your face

What you probably want is at least ambidextrous safety (I'm a lefty and I don't find that I need the slide lock or the mag release on the other side).

I've got an HK USP in .40S&W that has the factory ambi safety lever added. Want to buy it?

I love my Walther P88, completely ambidextrous. Unfortunately, no longer made.

Springfield Armory XD's has a ambidextrous magazine release buttons. Their new thumb safety is all so ambidextrous.

Most 1911's can be fitted with a ambidextrous thumb safety easily. Springfield offers them standard on the higher end pistols.

The Most Ruger pistols have ambidextrous magazine releases and Decockers.

Some Smith and Wesson pistols Offer ambidextrous thumb safety switches on most of there non-polymer pistols.

As far as I know there are no left mounted slide releases.

The Walther P38/P1 pistols eject to the spent casings to the left side.

The HK USP (mine or a new one) might be the ticket. All the USP mag release is ambi from the factory. The slide lock is not, and you can order (or buy mine*) the ambi control (safety/decocker) lever from the factory (well, YOU can't you're just a civilian and HK hates you. You can get a dealer to do it).

Or, the HK P2000 is completely (mag, safety, AND slide lock) ambi from the factory, no special order.

1911's are better for lefties than righties. Buy a 1911 with an ambi-safety, the slide release it easier to use when you shoot lefthanded.

Walther P5 has a left side ejection port. Not sure if the mag release can be switched to the right.

The S&W M&P series can have the mag catch switched to the right side of the gun. The HK USP has an ambi mag catch. I am sure there are a couple more out there but they may not be on the cali approved list.

I am left handed and find I can operate the mag catch of all right handed pistols better than having a mag catch on the right side of the pistol. I just use my trigger finger. Most pistols if I try it with my right hand I have to change grip position to hit the mag catch with my thumb.

As others have said the M&P has slide lock on both sides, no extra safeties, and the mag release can be switched (takes only a couple of minutes).
Now for a less expensive 9mm my wife likes her Bersa Ultra Compact. Slide lock and safety on both sides and the mag release can be switched.
They make it in 9mm .40 and .45 but the .40 isn't on the CA list so FTF PP only, if you can find it.
