The most simple solution is discard/disregard the magazines which aren't 100% reliable. I have had good luck with CMC, Novak, and Wilson Combat. However one of my Wilson mags but only one isn't 100%

Yeah, I hear ya. I guess I just hate throwing away stuff that I paid good money for and should work correctly. On the plus side, I called Springfield Armory about the problem... since three of the troublesome mags are theirs, they are sending me a brand new one to try out. They said if the new one works, they'll replace the other mags, and if not then they'll look at the gun. +1 for decent customer support, right? -

Great read..good info...lots of effort and time put into this! : )
I always hand-fit and angle (file) the rear face of the Slide Stop in such a way that the spring and plunger contact push it downwards firmly. Sometimes a small center-punch dent where the plunger touches the SS rear face in the down position is usefull, but put it in the right spot the first time or go buy a new SS and start over! This helps prevent early SS activation under recoil too. Makes the gun less finicky about what mag is used. Be sure the plunger and spring are working correct, too!
My concern with the vid is he is looking at SS notch damage in the slide as it comes Only from slide lock back when empty. If the SS is "flopping" up and down during recoil almost every shot, 'cause it needs the mod above, makes more sense for the rapid wear / peening. My .02
