    Would you shoot it?!?!

Took a 70's colt cobra in because it got tweaked by some friends playing with it/snapping it shut like they do in the movies. Stupid, I know. Anyways the cylinder was rubbing against the frame from something being bent/tweaked (crane maybe?). Well my gunsmith gave it back to me yesterday and said the gun frustrated him to no end. Anytime he tried to get it straightened out somewhere else wasn't right.

He gave it back and said that it was the best he could do. He seemed iffy on wether it would shoot right or not. Everything seems to line up right but him being unsure makes me unsure. Lock up is still good and all cylinders line up with the barrel fine. Should I shoot it and try it out? I really want to know if I'm stuck with a paperweight or not.

Please take it to another gun smith who is also willing to test fire it before handing it back to you. If at all possible.

At the very least, consult another gun smith.

    Good luck!

Not gonna lie I flinched pretty bad on the 1st shot but after that I was fine! I also threw on my carhartt as a thick layer of protection.

Some outstanding friends you got there .

If any of my friends did that to any my guns, they deserve a pistol whippin'!

If it's timed properly, isn't shaving lead when fired and the cylinder isn't dragging against the barrel face, it's probably reasonable to assume that it's in shootable condition.

Snapping a cylinder open and closed is the quickest way to spring the crane on a revolver. Always open and close it with the hands.

If you still have concerns, you'd be best off to take it to a pistolsmith that has experience with Colt revolvers.

When my friends want to handle my revolver I always tell them "don't snap it shut like in the movies or else they owe me a new gun." It works 100% of the time. As for your Cobra if I had one I would have not let anyone handle it. Sorry for your loss.
