    STI Trojan in CA?

A friend of mine who lives in Colorado has an STI Trojan that I would like to buy from him. He is going to be coming to CA in January and is going to bring the gun with him. My question is this: This gun is not on the CA approved list, but since it is a private party transfer, is it exempt from the list and legal for me to purchase from him. But since he is a CO resident will this make it a problem.
    Thanks

To do a private party sale both parties must be residents of California.

He can still ship the gun to an FFL that will accept transfers from private parties, but since it is off roster you must do an SSE or roster exempt.

Ok, what is an SSE or Roster exempt?

Do a search here on CG. It stands for single shot exemption. It requires a FFL with a manufacturers license (type 07)Usually a fee of $50-$150
