    Trigger work?

Posted this in the gunsmithing section as well.

Any recommendations on where I can get trigger work done. For ARs, sig, 1911s, in a single shop. I had a USP done by Bill Springfield and he did a great job. Have had some trouble trying to get ahold of him to do some follow up work. Either in the Bay Area or would be willing to mail in my frames/fire control groups. Thanks

    Hi. Single shop? No idea.
Sent combat commander to clark custom guns years ago and will never go anywhere else for 1911's.

Sig? No idea. Send it to them for SRT (short reset trigger)

AR? Geiselle in my eyes is the standard and a drop in.

Personally I abide to the old saying 'jack of all trades master of none' theory.

Fwiw: you send 1911 to clark custom and you will never go anywhere again.

    Best of luck
    back to the USA!

Maybe Wilson Combat? They're pretty backlogged these days though so they may not be working on stuff other than their own.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

I'd send it to Grayguns in OR. He is the definitive SIG pistolsmith, just about anyone can clean up an AR and he is one of the great Masters of the 1911.

The turn around on the SIG and AR are pretty quick, but he's backed up on his 1911 work

Gray guns is working on my Sig P226 right now. I should have it back in a few weeks. I would have sent it to Sig Sauer NH but they can only send and receive through an FFL.

            For AR.....

Do it yourself Geissele is best. But depends on what your use is.

For 1911's Ed Brown, Alan Tanaka, Wilson, Nighthawk.

            For Sig....

Well, no one can make that Good. You can only go from bad to average.

All of those are DIY guns. Change out some springs & polish the parts that need it.

AR, Sig and a 1911, Terry Gardner at Impact Guns comes to mind.

Polishing an AR fire control group is a bad idea because the components are usually case hardened and polishing can remove the thin hardened layer which can lead to rapid wear. Do yourself a favor and drop in a Geissele SSA or SSA-E yourself. Geissele SSA and SSA-E triggers are easy drop in DYI projects.

1911s triggers are easily screwed up and left unsafe and are therefore a poor candidate for DYI projects. That's the kind of project that it's worth spending the money for a 1911 specialist - especially if you're getting other work done at the same time. I can't tell you who is qualified in your area but hopefully someone in your area can.

To be completely honest, there are many people who would be satisfied with the results you can get with just spring changes and a little polishing...many S&W revolvers have been "improved" this way.

But once you've felt a really tuned 1911 or SIG Classic P-series, you'd understand why the above statement is really funny

I'll take my trigger job over a $300 job by a pro that gets the same results.

By the way what do you think they do to get that fine tuned trigger. They put in light springs & get out a polishing stone.

Maybe the ones you have experience with do, but they aren't all the same.

If you've ever felt a S&W Performance Center 627, that is about as much as you could hope for with spring changes and polishing. If you compared it to an Apex Tactical Specialties 627, you'd be stunned...and yet the Apex Tactical would be just as reliable (unless you went to the Competition only model)

It is the same for a SIG 226. You can get the same result as the Custom Shop Action Enhancement job, but it wouldn't approach what you'd get back after a trip to Grayguns

Grey Guns is the best place to go if you want to have it done by a pro. I guess it depends on what the OP is trying to achieve.

I'm more of a DIY guy. But of course the first time I ever did a Sig trigger I ordered parts from Grey Guns.
