^^^ interesting. thanks for posting those pics Frank. notice that on the Combat by Colt the vent is centered on the barrel while on the California Combat it is not. I wonder if this is because Pacific International had the longer barrels cut, which is why the vent doesn't center?

In any event California Combat or Colt Combat, both are very rare indeed and something I wish I had in my collection! congratulations

Another way to tell between the two is that the California has no front sight posts. The front sights were set to a groove rather that affixed by the traditional posts used on other colts. The CA Combats are nothing to turn your nose up to. They call huge $$$'s too.

            Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa................ ...........

I myself would like 1 in 4 or 6 inches once funds permit. Any finish, original colt wood grips. Passed on a manurhin myself and ended up with a dw, but in retrospect I kind of wish I had gotten them manurhin.

Won't even try to get a korth... I think I'd have better chances elsewhere with something else. Not to mention the cost of that alone could complete half or 2/3 of my revolver wish list... But yeah, mostly bc hard to get.

the combats were a limited run for Lew Horton Dist. and were made with a 3" barrel as opposed to 2.5". they made somewhere just over 300 of them. The nickel and stainless are even more rare and demand more cashola. if you ever see a 3" python with "combat python" on the barrel, step back, move slowly away and call me with the price immediately
I see, just your everyday, run of the mill Colt.

Only 300, no wonder they're priced in the stratosphere.

              Thanks for the info
