Glock 30, best 45acp carry option?

I've been looking for a good 45acp pistol to carry. I've tried a couple different 1911s and I just can't do it comfortably all day IWB. I can do it with reasonable comfort OWB, but concealment is a bit difficult carrying one OWB unless I have a jacket on. I've considered the XD-S and G36 but I think I want a bit more capacity than they offer. A 1911 was easy enough to carry 3-4 mags, but the bulky base plates of the XD-S and the thick mags of the G36 make carrying 15-20 rounds very difficult, whereas the G36 would give me 9+1 (I would carry with the short mag) and an additional 10 in the spare mag I would carry.

Any reason why someone would say carrying a G30 is a bad idea?

What carry ammo do you 45 users recommend? Being as I was carrying a 1911 I was planning on 230gr Ball to ensure reliability, but I have a feeling the Glock should be able to handle JHP with some reliability. (Which of course I will function test my carry ammo in the gun at the range before actually carrying like that)

Any IWB holster recommendations? I tend to prefer hybrid leather kydex or all kydex holsters.

    LEO or SD carry?

If it's SD, the G36 is an Outstanding IWB carry pistol.

Light, thin, reliable, accurate... Glock, in .45 ACP.

6+1 plus Three weak-side mags gives you Twenty-Five rounds. I am normally content w/ either Thirteen or Nineteen.

I use Federal 230 gr. HST +P for SD work out of < 4" Bbl'ed .45 ACP's. They give std. pressure/Bbl. length performance w/r/t expansion and penetration out of the shorter Bbls., and they are very shootable and have been 100% reliable in my G36.

I like my Glock 30 Gen 2.5 and carry it concealed (IWB) when I can (out-of-state) {it's been my primary carry piece for last decade}.
I use a Theis Holsters IWB horsehide EZ-Clip holster.
Use to carry it with Federal 230gr Hydra-Shock JHPs, now carry it with Speer 230gr Gold Dot JHPs. (10+1 with spare 13 round magazine)

I would like to try out the Glock 30S. The slimmer slide is suppose to make it easier to conceal and the SF frame fits my hands better.

Other .45ACP options to check out:
      S&W M&P-45C
      H&K HK-45C

I carry the Glock 30s all day, love it! No problem with comfortability or concealement. Would highly recommend carrying the 30s. Pics of course.

I have a 30SF but soon is going to be replaced with a shield. Im a big fan of glocks but I think they're a little too wide. For ammo winchester ranger 230gr JHP.

Put a 5.5" bullseye 10 yards out at your local range.

From low ready, on the timer, shoot 10 rounds in 10 seconds. Do this with your Glock 30, then with a Glock 19. Score them up. 10 ring couns at 10 points, 9 ring 9, 8 ring 8, anything outside the 8 ring are 0. See which one you're more accurate with.

This is called the Vickers Test, or 10-10-10 Drill. In a real SD situation accuracy is going to degrade massively, yet we still need to make hits on target and be accountable for all missed shots. This is why I'm suggesting the 9mm.
I've read enough of you're posts recently to know you have some kind of issue with 45acp. Tell you what, you carry what you want in the caliber you want, I'll do the same, except I won't question you on your choice of caliber.

I've shot enough light weight 45s to know I prefer them over 9mm.

I've already looked at the M&P and didn't like how it felt, I don't really like HK pistols ask that much, already shot the XDm 3.8 45 and didn't like it. The standard 30 feels better in my hand than the sf or s models.

I used to conceal carry a glock 30 off duty and never liked it. Don't get me wrong, it was a great gun and awesomely accurate. It was just to thick for me so I switched to a full size 1911 loaded with my load of preference being the 230gr Golden Sabers. However, I understand what you're saying about how a 1911 might be uncomfortable IWB. I assume you are referring to a full size 1911? Have you considered an officers size 1911 with 3.5 in barrel or a 4in barrel? Also, for handguns with a barrel that is less than 4in long I recommend the federal HST 230gr+P as your carry load. A factory 230gr hollow point might not expand reliably out of a barrel that less than 4.25in long.

I used to carry it everyday. Now it's just a backup car gun. I prefer to edd the g19 more. The g30 is a great edc if you have big hands.

I was thinking of getting the g30 or g30s, however is it really practical if you dont CCW?

I used to carry my G21 for my CCW and always used 200gr. Corbons +p+ which we called flying ashtrays. 45 acp is a very good round for stopping power any day!

I would say that is up to the individual.

Op is in AZ, so CCW is GTG.

I use to carry a G36. I a very good CCW. It had no problems feeding Federal 230grn Hydra-Shocks.
