I am a 1911 man and have decidedd that I want a Sig 226 Mk25. Stoped by my lgs to check one out and noticed that the slide to frame tolerances are loose compared to my high end 1911's. It's not that bad but when there is no mag in the gun it seems to rattle when shaken. Is this normal for a Sig 226? Just want to make sure before I buy it. Thanks.

Pretty normal, unless the rattle is excessive...that means you see the sights obviously going from side to side when you shake it...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's Tale -
The ONLY fit that you should worry about in a Sig is the barrel to slide fit. Sig uses a different lockup system than the 1911... no barrel link.
Some of my Sigs rattle like mad. As long as the barrel lockup to the slide is nice and tight you are good to go.WTB: Sig P245 or P220 Compact

^^^ This. Your 1911 was designed to rattle and have loose tolerences so that it would be reliable. The age of $2000 and up 1911's as resulted in guns that try to "look and feel the price"...ie a high-end 1911 needs to be "pretty" to justify the cost. As far as accuracy, my only concern is the lockup of the barrel to the slide and the alignment of the sights on top of the slide.
That said, SiG is hit n miss as all the slides and frames/barrels etc are interchangeable without any fitting... something that can not be said of your high end 1911. Buyers go and specifically get a P226 with really tight tolerances n then the will complain about the "wear points" wiht the frame to slide fit...Damned if you do and damned is you dont.Comment

My Sig P226 is the most accurate 9mm I've ever shot. If the slide seems a little "loose" without a mag, I've never noticed it. I don't think it's an issue.
If your store has other sigs in stock, ask to see two or three more comparable models and compare the one you desire.
