Well today was the pick up day for my Sig 226 ST in .40, man this is a nice piece, I love the heft to it. I've had a 229 for 10 years, but I just dig the 226 so much more.

Anyways let me get back on track, I went to the mail today after picking up my 226 and what was there? The .357 Sig Barrel that I ordered for my 226, SWEET!! So far so good.

Then to top it all off I got the email I was waiting for, a little backstory needed here.

I have been looking for a compact 9mm, I was thinking of picking up a Glock 19 or CZ or maybe a P2000k, anyways I get to thinking that maybe I want something a little out of the box. It hits me, what I really want is a P7M8.

Well of to hunt for one, nothing posted here for awhile, so after looking for a bit, I find one in Maryland, the problem is the person will not send to Cali. So I send him a nice email stating I'm interested and asking what his concerns are about selling to this State.

Of course he states, the new law about registering, so I again politely send him an email with the link to the FAQ of the new laws and ask him to read question #2, which states the law does not apply to a non FFL holder. He apologizes for his ignorance of the law(his words), and says that if I can find a FFL that will accept a transfer from an individual he would be happy to sell to me.

I hunt all day yesterday, and find a local FFL who will accept and charges an extremely reasonable amount. I contact the seller and he says that before he'll send it he need a copy of the FFL. So late yesterday I send an email to my FFL requesting a copy as the seller asked for.

After I walk in from getting the mail, I log on check my mail and there in a PDF is the FFL, I forward the PDF to the seller, he emails me back and says.

Let's do it!!

So tomorrow I'm sending the funds and my LNIB P7M8 AG code less than 50 shots fired with 5 mags box and all papers, will be here next week.

The only thing that blows is the fact that it will probably be around 15 days till I can start the DROS, but I am so excited I have always wanted a P7 and I got a great example at a nice price.

Glad to hear you decided to move on that, Vin. It's gorgeous. I'm jealous as hell. That's #1 on my want list right now. I only hope I can find an example like that when I decide to move on it.

Congrats on the P7M8 and P226ST (Is this a P226R ST?)

I have those two, but they're both in 9mm. The P226R ST was the second pistol I purchased, and it's one of my favorites. (I liked it so much that I sold the first pistol I bought so I could pay for another Sig - no big loss, it was a Beretta)

The P7M8 is a great gun for CCW. Not great for extended shooting, but otherwise is excellent.

LOL, this my friends is the seller of my P7. I sent him a polite email that stated my case with the facts.

According to him, he had received a few rude PMs, I thought it was probably more productive to inform him of the actual law with proof than just tell him "you don't know what your talking about".

You have to remember that to outsiders the laws here can seem(and are) extreme. Heck I've been at times and have seen others here not always know what the facts are, but as we have seen in another thread we can spread the facts and show that it is entirely possible to deal with us without much, if anything required from Out Of State sellers.

It's clearly obvious that many OOS FFLs believe that the new CFLC is some complex process that requires registration and payment of some sort. If we can show them that it is a simple online form that can be filled out and there is no cost involved, and only adds a minute or 2 to a California gun purchase, we can hopefully make sure that this new law does not negatively impact us.

While I admire (and aspire to) your educating OOS people.... there's an ugly truth here.

Many non-CA gun owners view us as the enemy. They view all Californians, even those of us who want to legally own firearms, as part of the problem. And for those that don't, there's some feeling that "if we really valued our 2nd Amendment rights, we'd have fought harder to prevent them from passing such stupid laws."

I've come across the feeling numerous times on another board I frequent. It's the same type of mentality that automatically bashes someone for weighing all important political issues rather than just the RKBA when voting.

Regardless, it's a beautiful P7M8 and I'm glad to know it'll have a good home. Shoot her in good health.
