I dont own one. I have 18 SiG "P" series pistols in my collection. The ONLY .380 pistol I own is a Walther PPk, along with the Beretta .25 and the Walther P99, in my James Bond collection.

I do not think very much of.380 even though with modern bullet design it is probably far more efficent than it was 15 years ago. The P232 is a realatively big pistol for such a small round. There are smaller pistols that are chambered for the far superior 9mm.

After visiting a site, I think I see why you're inquiring about the P232

I have a P230 in 380ACP. It's surprisingly snappy for a little round. The gun is comfortable to hold. The decocker is not as easy to use as the ones on the big P series. It may not be as small or as powerful as more modern designs, but it's still useful and I bet easier to use than the newer ultra-compact designs.

I have never shot a p232 before but my dad owns a p230sl that is my moms hd gun. It was the first firearm I shot in my life. It has a great trigger and is snappy for the .380 round. I think it would make a great ccw piece as it is very reliable and sturdy. I heard that many LEO's carry them as a backup pistol.

The P232 IS a little large, especially with the fat Hogue wrap arounds they usually come with. If concealing it is a consideration, I would highly recommend getting the Hogue aluminum grips, which make the butt end almost as skinny as the rest of the pistol.

Since it's a blowback design, there's more recoil (relative to it's size) than you'd get in a recoil operated pistol. But not much different than a Walther PPK, IMO.

The P232 is very reliable. A little more of a pain to strip and clean than the SIG classic P series, IMO.

I bought mine as a Police Trade in they had at Turner's several years ago, and the price was just too good to pass up. But I think if I were setting out to buy a little pistol for concealment, or even just to collect today, I'd search around and try to score an older P230 model and go with carbon steel over stainless.

I have a p230. Super accurate, I don't find the recoil to be too much. It is a little bigger than the PPKS, but I prefer shooting it.

the P230 is a high quality example of a medium sized DA/SA .380 semi-auto handgun with a simple fixed barrel blow-back configuration. it is not as forgiving of poor upkeep as it's larger brothers in the P series lineup. it is most prudent to keep the gun clean and lubricated prior to counting on it for defensive use. when clean and lubricated, the P230SL/P230 is reliable and eager for the task. the DA trigger pull is stiff, yet smooth. the SA trigger pull is crisp and with minimal take-up.

while the stainless steel variant of the P230 (P230SL) is heavier than the blued version P230, it's weight helps with management of recoil, and there is less recoil than with the blued P230. the blued P230 is light and when carried with a good quality holster and belt, the user almost forgets he is carrying this lightweight semi-auto. with just about any type of carry system, the P230 variants carry well.

i own a w german P230SL, and while being fond of this variant of the P230, it has outlived it's usefulness to me in most applications as a concealment handgun due to the wide availability of same size and smaller reliable sub-compact semi-autos in larger calibers than what is offered by the P230SL/P230; the G26 has replaced the P230SL in my line-up for most all concealment applications (G26 10rds+1 9mm vs P230 7rds+1 .380). because of the thin slide and frame of the P230, it still has it's place as a concealment handgun for certain applications. regardless of the pros and cons and how the math adds up, i have no intention of parting with this w german P230SL.

Looks like there are more P230 owners than P232 owners.
