Sig P220 grip question.Yea another one

    Here is the deal.
I have a older all German model, side mag release. All OEM
Now I have a American slide,German made action model.Has the Hogue grips.I want to change them to the style like my old German gun and was told the grips are different for the 2 different guns.
    I will call Sig tomorrow.
I had a set a lady wanted to give me lined up.Her coworker was the one who said they were different.
These guns are spread out between here and my other home in Idaho,so I can not test fit at this time.

Anyone have these 2 guns or have known them to be different?
    Thanks in advance.

    They "might" be different.

Check the main spring seat. Older P220s have a long main spring and an "L" shaped seat.

Newer P220s have a shorter main spring set in a plastic boot.

I don't believe the old P220 grip panel can accomodate the new main spring boot.

The only plastic grips available form Sig these days are the P220 slim grips. They will fit on your pistol if you have either the old style metal or the short plastic mainspring boot. If you can, find a pair of the older pebble finish grips.

Personally, I'd spend a little dough and get a nice set of G10 grips.

The old German style checkered plastic grips will only accommodate the older style mainspring set-up. Current spec grips will accommodate all styles of mainspring set-up.

The older checkered grips can work provided you shave some plastic at two areas inside the grip panel. I’ve done it for one of my p220 9mm’s when I switched out to the plastic boot years back. Did them to some older hogue grips I have also.
