    Help with a glock.

Hey folks trying to figure out which direction to go. Really like the grip and added back straps of the gen 4s but I can get gen 3 g17s for 400 bucks. I already have a gen 3 g34 that I was thinking about grip chopping into a compact size as well which is another reason for getting the gen 3 since the "upper" can be swapped.

Are the gen 4s that much better that I should go that direction? Or stay with the gen 3s? Thanks.

the gen4 grip is like an improved version of the RTF grip to me. not quite as scratchy but pretty damn nice.

If your going to chop it just use the Gen3. I own both now and I am about even with my 17 RTF2 grip and Gen4 23 grip. As far as the back straps is eh to me. I take them off and run standard grip size anyways. The guy I bought it off of had the fat back strap on so maybe he can jump in and learn you towards that.

As for as the features of the 3 vs 4 besides the Ambi/larger mag release the guns are toss ups on which is "better". I have been favoring the gen4 23 since I got it not because of the gen or features but because the 19/23 size has always been a perfect fit for me. Kinda have smaller sized hands I guess.

But my vote is for the 3 especially if your going to mod the grip. Unless you can snag them for the same price OTD. I think the most the gen4 features are worth would be $50 only cause they are kinda nice, better resale and comes wih an extra mag.

Crap, that explains this mess I've been building.

Please explain the point of grip chopping a G34 to a G26 when the purpose of a compact is for easy concealment and quick draw. Sure you can get the concealment part down but fast draw with a 5.25" slide from concealment? Plus you are defeating the purpose of the standard capacity magazines allowing you to carry 18 rounds of ammunition.

If you want a compact go buy one. To cut down a perfectly good firearm just to fit your needs defeats the purpose of buying the right firearm IMHO.

Sound's to me like you need a G4 G19 to fill the gap the G26 or G34 is unable to fill.

Price is a moot point if you're just going to drop more coin into customizing it to fit your needs.

The other downside is brass to the face on Gen 4s

You can go with gen3 and add the grip force adapter.

If you don't have a problem with the grip I say get the Gen 3. The recoil is about the same and the gen 3 has more mod options. I myself got the gen 4 because I hated the gen 3 grip. If it weren't for that I would've sprung for the gen 3.

i love the gen 4 grip. i own g17, g19, and g26 all gen 4. i rented the gen 3 first before buying anything but i just love the beavertail backstrap that comes with the gen 4. i've put it on all 3 of my models.

What a lot of people don't know is it's a common misconception the spring was changed for the recoil. It was actually changed for longer spring life, reliability and mainly for when Tac lights are mounted it helps with FTEs. It even says increased spring life and nothing about recoil on their website.

But because it's 2 springs people think it's to dampen recoil. Another reason why people don't feel the difference is because there isn't supposed to be any.

I just don't understand why would anyone want to cut down a perfectly fine G34 instead of just buying a G19.
The latter is probably cheaper and much less trouble to go through...

What? Man...Glock needs to fix this mess.

My G19 Gen3 is my first and only glock. It had Brass to the face out the box. As well as the magazine follower not feeding quality JHP rounds on the last round.

All issues are fixed but gdamn it had more problems then any of my 1911s. I was planning to give glock another go with a G19 Gen4 but I am having 2nd thoughts....
