    Chip McCormick mag issue

Just got a power 10+ for my TRP Operator.

I noticed with the mag is fully seated after locking the slide back I can't release the slide without dropping the mag.

I do not have this problem with the standard mags the gun came with.

Any thoughts from you 1911 guys?

    Thanks!

You mean the slide won't go forward with a empty mag in the gun? Isn't that what is supposed to happen unless you push down on the slide lock.

The magazine follower pushes up on the slide lock when the gun goes empty therefore locking it back, or if you pull back the slide with an empty magazine in it.

Is this with an empty or loaded mag?

this and happened w Wilson mag as well but the was due to the plastic base plate hitting the frame.

My solution to the latter was to hot knife off 1-2mm of the top of the base plate.

This new Wilson ETM are better, thicker, sturdier. The ETM's

I tried the 10 round CMC and the very long base bad allowed me to torque the mag, and made it fail.

Empty mag in the weapon. Slide locked back. Slide lock cannot be depressed to allow slide to go forward. Make sense?

Give up on the CMC 10-rounders. I've got 5 of them and none of them will drop free. All my CMC 8-rounders work fine.

Got three of these Chip power 10 mags, no issues with any if them. Are you able to press the slide release and gave the slide come forward, or locked back and can't do anything until the mag is released?

They fit perfectly fine. They just won't allow manipulation of the slide lock on an empty mag. Not even that big of a deal but just interesting.

I have this issue with my RIA GI and my 10rd CMC, thought it was just me being retarded, even pulling the slide back further wont unlock it. Only a problem when the mag is empty it seems.

yes it makes sense, you are fighting against the magazine spring which is pushing up on the follower, which is pushing up on the slide lock...

A lot of people use Checkmate, so why go elsewhere.
-Wilson Combat "Service Mag Plus" = Checkmate
                            -Ruger 1911 Magazines = Checkmate
-Sig Sauer Magazines = Checkmate followers & Stainless body.
Not sure if the body is checkmate, but very similar.

I have some shooting stars and while they work fine, the follower nose dives quite a bit. Has not given problems, but worries me.
I'm thinking of using some CMC followers in the Shooting Stars to see how they do.

The Checkmate (CMC) followers are pretty rock solid in my opinion and I love the all metal construction.

Want to get rid of those 10 rounders? My TRP and other 1911s run them great! OP, the TRP is built very tight. It will need some time to break in. Run standard mag for a couple hundred rounds and then try the 10 rounders again.
