I have the Loaded. Basically the same thing. Fit and finish is pretty tight for a $900 1911.

Loaded is on, Range Officer is off roster. Something to consider.

I have around 700 rounds through it and have not had a failure of any kind. I found I really like the adjustable rear sight , I changed the front sight for a Dawson tritium and have really been able to dial in my hold.

This is my first 1911 so I'm not real qualified to comment on fit but if you hold the grip safety and shake it nothing rattles. The safety clicks off/on nice and firm. The trigger with over travel stop spoils me. I wouldn't want it any lighter and I love the break.

I have yet to try hollow points but I use factory fed/winchester and reloads with out any problems. 8yard 7round one ragged hole groups are pretty common.

Let me share this with you... .last week I'm at the range and I'm down to my last 2 rounds of 45acp. There's this little box in each stall where some people put there spent shells. As I glance in there I notice some live rounds. So I find 5 rounds of 45acp. I'm thinking maybe they are some crazy reloads that someone left behind and I probably should just leave them there. But I notice they are all federal cases and they each have a firing pin strike.(probably from a Kimber.. . ) So I load them up + the 2 I had left and the Range Officer fires them all off no problem.

So bottom line... I love it...couldn't be happier...have never second guessed my decision to purchase this gun.

One last thing. . The RO comes with a match grade barrel/bushing. I believe only the target loaded's get them also. The regular loaded's don't get the match grade barrels.

Is that the factory finish? Looks nice. I have two entry level models and the RO seems like a logical next step.

Actually had my hands on one awhile back. For some reason I want to remember it had a reverse two tone? Didn't do much for me. I prefer all SS or all dark.

I wanted an RO but opted for the loaded since its on the roster and I'm lazy. Lol

But I never regretted the decision. The Nm serialized loaded is super tight, eats anything, is on target, and most important...made in the USA!

Other frames are Brazil made but I've heard that they're just as reliable. But I make it a point to get American if the option is available.

            +1.

OP when I was set on the Range Officer I did a huge amount of research on both the RO and Loaded. I was stuck for weeks which I wanted. They are practically the same exact gun.

            They both have:
            Skel Hammer/Trigger
Extended Beaver Tail w/ Memory Bump
            FL 2 price Guide Rod
Come in either Parkerized or Stainless
            Backstrap Checkering
            4 to 5lb Trigger
            Extended Safety
            Flared Magwell/Ejection Port
            Cocobola Wood Grips

            Where they differ is:

            The Loaded has:
            Ambi Extended Safety
            Combat Slide Serrations
            Novak 3 Dot Combat Sights
            On Roster

            Range Officer:
            Competition Barrel
            Competition Bushing
            Target Black Sights
            Non Ambi Safety
            Pencil Slide Serrations
Off Roster (Added about $100 to MSRP)

The Range Officer has been said to have TRP fitting standards, but I emailed Springfield to get the answer how it gets better treatment and they neither confirmed or denied that it is a tighter better fit. The loaded is VERY tight and we'll fitted. The only difference in these is what your buying on one VS the other is one is target oriented, another is more suited "combat" or field users.

So if your just shooting bull the RO is great, you'll see a minute improvement in accuracy due to the competition barrel and bushing. But if you want a range or tactical class gun that's where the Loaded is targeted. Again the same gun but built to suite both style of shooting. Also all explained in the PM I sent you with the video I broke down the features or both.

GL and hope you get what your looking for!

If the RO is offered in stainless that's news to me...

I believe they only come parkerized...anything else must have been a custom job.

                Gents,

Thank you all for your response. Will be looking around for some Springfields during the holidays. I will be more inclined to look for the "NM" serial numbered guns.

American made is nice but the Brazilians are capable of making some fine firearms. Over the years they've also made some trds. I'm not an SA fanboi but from about a brazillion internet posts I would probably conclude that SA doesn't sell trds.

                        DArBad,
I have the loaded in jail and can't wait. I initially wanted the Range Officer until I found out it wasn't on roster as I too did a ton of research.
CK 32 is dead on in his posts and obviously knows what he's talking about!
In my research, any decent SA 1911 is hard to come buy; I was very fortunate to find a "loaded" for less than 1k.
CK 32, thanks for your info; it's exactly what I found (you saved me some typing).
