    it never fails......

So I've been shopping around for an M&P 9c as a xmas gift for my wife for a couple of months and haven't been able to find anything in stock locally in SoCal. Found some for sale by PPT but people wanting more than retail price.

End up finding a shop out of state that had it for a great price and even after transfer and DROS, was still better than local. Shipped today.

Then I see riflegear has them in stock at $499. What gives?

Tis life of a gun hunter! As soon as you find what you want at a price that's reasonable, a better gun for cheaper and closer pops up!

Yep. May have to buy one myself. They're just around the corner.

I have been scouring the Calguns itrader forum for a few pistols I was interested in and every time I saw one that I was interested in, the seller was asking for more than MSRP, and in some cases significantly more. I understand that guns don't necessarily depreciate the way other things do, but I can't even begin to fathom why I would pay more for a used item of any kind than the price of new one. Regardless of whether or not its in new or mint condition, its still a mechanical device with a finite lifetime that has already been partially expended, even if only to a very small extent.

It can depend...sometimes people buy night sights and extra mags next thing you know they're an extra $200 into the gun.

3 days after I dros a handgun a NIB one came up for sale for $100 less than what I paid for. 2 days after that a used one with 200 rounds threw it and 4 extra mags for $15 less than what I paid for the one I drosd.

I remember seeing used M&P 9c here with no extras at $650.

Definitely. Cost-wise, it came out to about the same anyway as if I'd bought locally from riflegear but just a little more hassle with the out of state purchase and transfer. One extra phone call and 3 trips total to LGS to complete the entire transaction.

Well not to add insult to injury, but I just bought an M&P9C at RG. They are having a 5% off Black Friday sale.
