Good gun stores in LA? You are kidding, right?

Actually Ade's in Orange deserves all credit it gets. Ammo Bros in Cerritos.... despite my personal horror story with them they are getting decent reviews.
If you don't mind people speaking foreign language in front of you ( Armenian it is ) Gun Gallery in Glendale not bad.
In Culver City Martin Retting seems to be hit and miss as far as customer service...

EDIT 2020: To be fair that seems to apply to many Westerners also.

Around LA Bain & Davis, and Jeffs ;sporting goods are both nice place. They actually open side by side in San Gabriel. I also hear nice thing about Enterprises, though I have no first hand experience with them.

If you don't mind drive just a little farther, OC indoor shooting range in Brea is a really nice place to deal with. They don't have big secretion of gun in stock but can order any thing with VERY reasonable price. And they don't try to jeff you small fee here and there(like: lock, extra handling fee, extra DROS fee...etc.) They are the honest gun shop I ever been to.

Get on Turner's outdoorsman's new's letter list. They are bad to deal with, but once a while their sale deal aren't bad. The one in Pasadena have few very nice cs in there.

Martin Retting is a little overpriced for new pistols, but they occasionally have something on sale. They have a pretty good rotating inventory of milsurp, C&R, and long guns. They also have pretty good milsurp rifle ammo pricing.

Turners is good for stuff on sale. I go to Redondo, but they have a store in Reseda.

Big 5 is the place for milsurp and long guns. They run pretty good sale prices every week. But, their rifle ammo prices suck.

Don't know that I've bought from anywhere else, but if I'm in San Pedro I stop at Union War Surplus. Their selection is hit or miss, but the prices are pretty good.

For just pure looking around, Rettings is probably the best place to go. They have a nice selection of guns to browse through, but their prices are towards the higher end of the spectrum.

I wrote a long *** post that got eaten -- to sum it up --
Rettings - good tactical bolt gun collection. Bargains on used.
Gun World (you can negotiate on some stuff -- don;t let the price tag scare you)
Oak tree gun club - see Sean he'll take care of you
Fort C0urage - not a lot of stock but Tim will get you what you need

Go to Turners if you're buying a gun from their ad that's really cheap
for a shotgun or a 10/22 go to Bog 5

Insight range in artesia claims you can shoot the gun you buy from them while your waiting the ten days.

                              So...its used before its yours?
How would that work? ...What if your refused?
I smell a reverse STRAW used gun purchase!
