WTF? The sigs mag are legit. Those are some good mags and I think you need to look other issues with your 1911. This is the first time I have heard of anyone hating on those mags.

I bought one 10rd Chip McCormick mag and its gives me the same problems the OP is describing... usually on the first round but sometimes mid mag.

If I switch back to my factory mags the problem goes away.

I had the same issue but Wilson mag work awesome!

The liberal see's the glass as half full and tries to take more.
The conservative see's glass as half empty and tries to keep it that way.
I'm with the people on the side just pouring water in the glass trying to get a drink!

Met iTrack at the range. He watched me run one mag and instantly spotted the problem. Amateur bad grip. The firearm cycled perfectly every time. The grease most likely helped a lot too. Thanks for everyone who helped!

Had fun. Nice meeting you Pat. Glad I was able to help a little. I hadn't been shooting in a couple months.

I have a leather holster for mine for action pistol and IDPA.

I did have to stretch the leather a bit. I prefer leather though.

          To stretch,

Find a thick heavy plastic bag. (forgot- I think the bag I used, is a bag the sig came in- heavy tough plastic- like a 5mil or even thicker)
          Put gun in bag
Use a q tip and a cup of water-
Dip q tip in water, and rub the inside of the holster with a LIGHT dampening of the water around the slide block area.

Jamb the pistol into the holster, and let it sit awhile...
          Repeat 2-3 times per day.
After a day or 2 or 3... it'll stretch out enough, and still have a firm fit.

Mine still fits a little tight- it easily holds the gun upside down with moderate shaking. It requires me to make a conscious effort to DRAW it out of the holster, but I'm happy with that fit.

Agree with mlevans66. Never had a problem with Sig 1911 magazines and never really heard of any issues either. Kimber factory mags seem to get all the hate though I've never had any problems myself and my trusted gun-shop guy says he's never had an issues either.

I do like the Kim Pro Tac mags. They are solid and smooth and come with a variety of base plates. You can find them pretty easily for less than $25 so an excellent value as well.

I really need to get a Sig 1911. Have been out of country for while but now that back I saw one in LGS window that looked REALLY nice. didn't even bother to hold it or even ask what model it was but after got home realized that after doing an ammo inventory I have 2x more .45 than 9mm stocked up and although I have always loved my SW1911 which has never had one hiccup in couple thousand rounds, I NEED another 1911, and external extractor doesn't bother me since SW1911 has the same.

That Sig in the window was a beauty- stainless and price was around $900.Like idea of having a rail as well as my current 1911 is my HD gun since has run so flawlessly w any ammo ever put through it but doesn't have a rail for a light.

Glad you got your problem figured out. 1911's like a firm grip compared to what you can get away with on many 9mm pistols out there.

While I certainly understand people that like grease on the frame rails due to it's penchant for staying put and being the best for sliding contact, oil works also if you apply a little before each range session. Lubing the right places is more important than what type of lube you use.

With all due respect I do take exception to Wilson 47D's being considered a top of the line magazine; 30 years ago perhaps but the Tripp Research,Chip McCormick and even the Wilson ETM magazines are substantially better as 8 round magazines.
"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."
"What we get away with isn't usually the same as what's good for us"
"An extended slide stop is the second most useless part you can put on a 1911"

"While Ruger DA revolvers may be built like a tank, they have the aesthetics of one also,
although I suppose there are a few tanks which I owe an apology to for that remark"
