Beretta 950

Hello all,

Does anyone have any info on a Beretta 950 .22 short?

I have acquired one through a friend, seems like a neat little gun, whats the word on it? Nice little gun to teach a person with?

I had a 950 but it was a .25. Was a little small for my hands but my kids shot it pretty well. Not the most accurate thing but it was fun to play with. Never had a problem with it.

I just sold a .25acp version today. Never had an issue with it and my accuracy was really surprisingly good. Tip up barrel would be good for teaching as you can load one round at a time but your shooter better have small hands as this is a small gun.

I owned the .25 the 950 jetfire USA made model.

It was a great gun very accurate. No problems at all. Easy to clean.

Sights are a little hard to see and very small. Notch type sites.

I've had one for years, break it out every once in a while. Good quality and performs well. REMEMBER, with the tip up design you can rack the slide but the cartridge won't eject, so tip up the barrel to take the cartridge out manually to avoid AD. Good little gun, mine likes the CCI Blazer .22 short. Sights are not worth much, like all guns this size, but mine is surprisingly accurate. A teaching gun? Not sure on that...

I have 2x the .22short version and 2x the .25acp version. Older models are made in Italy and lackm a manual safety. The .22short is claled the Minx and the .25acp the Jetfire. Mine are fairly accurate and reliable. The .22short also came in a 4" barrel but is less common.

I like the fact that .22short ammo is around $3 a box of 50 nowadays and .25acp is over $10. The .22short makes a good trainer model for the .25acp model. Tip up feature is neat too.

I had one of the Minx's and my dad had a Jetfire. Problem I had with them is that to be safe you had to carry it condition two or condition three imho, and either thumb cock or rack the slide. No way was I carrying it cocked and locked.

Also, if .22lr is too small for a defense caliber, I'm not sure where the .22short would rank .25acp has a number of advantages such as centerfire ignition and more reliable feeding due to a semi-rimmed case imho.

I sold mine and got a 21a, although I wish I still had mine just because.

Since we're on a .25 auto roll today I'll have to see if my handgun shooting mentor still has his .25 auto collection. For the many years that he ran a local gun shop here he would collect every different model of .25 auto that came through the doors. He had a pretty good collection years ago. He particularly liked the little Colt .25 autos.
