    SSE question

Can ANY off roster handgun be bought via SSE? I just want to understand it better.

I believe that if your FFL has the parts, and the gun itself is legal to own in CA, yes. Note that I said legal to own, not legal to purchase from an FFL in it's original configuration.

For the most part yes. Just need to make sure your ffl has the parts to convert it. What are you looking to get?

Yes. AW regulations still apply though.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but if I were to procure a Sig P226, without the loaded chamber indicator and magazine disconnect, from an online out of state vendor, would I have go through the SSE process at my FFL?

Only the exact model names shown on the roster are on the roster. This includes finish and CA designations.

If the firearm is not currently on the DOJ roster, SSE or PPT is the only legal way for you to acquire the firearm.

Are there any off roster handguns that CAN NOT be bought via SSE?

Thank You. I did not mean Handgun that are illegal to possess in California. Are there handgun that are more difficult or impossible to SSE?

Yeah, but that's from a mechanical standpoint, rather than legal. I don't think anyone is doing squeeze cockers for example. Some guns probably wouldn't be too difficult mechanically, but aren't worth it from an investment standpoint for most shops. See: baby eagles, Steyrs, etc.

If you want something bad enough and are willing to pay/wait, there's probably a shop that would make it happen for you.

A lot of FFL's don't do revolvers. The Chiappa Rhino is one of the more difficult ones from what I understand, but that would be SAE rather than SSE. I think I have only heard of a couple of shops in the state that can/will do them.

EBR Works in Newbury Park can SSE any pistol, .380 to 45ACP. Ask me how I know!

EDIT: Any pistol...revolvers have to be brought in SAO (single-action only). Easy to do for S&W, not so sure about other brands. That's how I got my 14" 460 S&W into CA:

You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
                            Come on...what harm??
