S&W M&P Shield 9mm Trigger

I am law enforcement, and right now as my off duty carry, I use this weapon system. Unfortunately I really do not like the trigger pull on it at all... It's heavy, feels clunky, and my accuracy suffers a lot because of it.

What I would really love with this firearm, is a seer reset trigger system, can this be done? Can I replace the trigger system completely in this weapon to improve my accuracy?

The Apex Tactical AEK for the Shield is very nice. I got to play with one a couple of weeks ago and one of the owners just shot his Shield at the IDPA BUG Nationals this last weekend

Having shot my friends Shield, I agree the trigger leaves much desired. It is odd though that there have been reports on new production MP9s having performance sears and better accuracy. I'm suprised they didn't carry this over to the shield platform as well...

Probably depends on production date. S&W is well known for implementing improvements on the fly without releasing information to press or the public.

The Shield was the first platform with the improved parts...the biggest was the bump they added to the slide lock to improve the reset.

Imagine how bad the trigger was before the improvement

I bought my Shield 3 weeks ago, the 1st thing I notice is FCG, everything is polished and the trigger is really good, night and day if compared against the M&P 9's

You might check with the powers to be in your department regarding altering a firearm you carry. Some departments don't care, but others say it is a no go.
My department says you have to have the firearm checked by a department armor first, the qualify with it. On duty or off duty firearm, they have to be okay'ed.

All you have to do is replace the sear with an Apex sear. That will drop your trigger pull to 4.5 lbs, which may be considered too light for duty but it's perfect for the range. The grittiness in the takeup can be alleviated by lightly polishing the trigger bar where it contacts the striker safety plunger.

You might also consider sending it to Smith & Wesson and have them do a trigger job for you. Last I checked it's about $180 for priority service and, if they do the work you maintain your warranty.

...sure, that sounds like money well spent

For quite a bit less than that, you can install the Apex Tactical D/C AEK, not be without your gun at all, and have a better feeling trigger

Apex Tactical is soon releasing the AEK trigger for the Shield. The trigger in combination with the current production DCAEK will be very nice.

I have the AEK + DCAEK on my M&P45 and absolutely love it.
