    Glock 17 refurbish

I have a 1st gen Glock 17 that I want to upgrade/refurbish etc. I was thinking of replacing the springs with a Wolff spring kit figuring that is the first thing that goes. Only have a few rounds thru the gun and it seems to work fine.

If it aint broke, dont fix it!

If i was going to refurbish it, send it to glock....those gen 1's parts may be harder to find now.

Your best bet is to show up at a GSSF match and let the armorer update it for free.

I did that with my Gen2 G19 and he even returned all my original "black" parts to be able to keep the gun original in case a collector wanted it later

Don't use after armed parts. Use OEM for Glocks. Every time I hear people having issues the first thing that comes up is their grocery list of wolf and after market parts they "upgraded".

+1 on the GSSF free service.

          Leave it as is.
It's spring compression/decompression cycles that weaken springs. Just sitting there doesn't weaken them.

Depending on how old it is and if it was "upgraded" or not it could have original black internal parts in it which are desirable in a collectors stand point.

The Gen 1 G17's were known to fire 60,000-,120,000 rounds.

Unless you stored you pistol with the slide locked back for the past 15 years, just go shoot it.

Old guns that are pretty scare me... And old Glock should be bright and shiny from tens of thousands of presentations from a holster. That classic patina one develops after lots of use and even more dry practice.
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Interesting. I had not known about the Six Part "upgrade" until reading this thread. I guess that's what a two decade hiatus will do for you.

So for my Gen 2 G17 with a MU serial #, what are some other options to get the Six Part "upgrade" than sending the gun off. Obviously I'd want to keep my original parts so I don't want to send the gun off anywhere. Are there "while you wait and watch" options in the Los Angeles area other than the GSSF events? If not, do I need to participate in a GSSF event to get the upgrade. I will check the Google too...I just thought a few of you may have already ben down this road before and could offer good advice.

EDIT: Nev'mind, I think I already found the answer. Apparently Glock will send the parts to a Glock Certified Armorer. I'll try to track one down close to me iand get it done when time permits.
