Anyone have a Sig P226 SAO?

Trying to see what people think about the Sig P226 SAO? How's the thumb safety and trigger? Trigger reset as bad as the non-SRT trigger? Thanks to Jae for his thoughts via PM, just trying to get some more opinions on it. Thanks!

    I've had 2 P220 SAO's... trigger is slightly heavier at 5lbs I think. But I love the SAO's.

There are a number of p226 SAO with defective thumb safety springs. Discussed at Sigtalk.com, I cannot provide the links because I cannot access that website at work. Description of the problem as well as the resolution, which is basically to contact Sig sauer and they will send you a new spring which resolves the issue.

I've a P226 X5. I prefer the SAO during competitions. Some shooters prefer a "suprise" break, I prefer to know when the hammer & sear will break for my style of shooting.

I don't have one but a friend has a Sig P226 SAO and I have shot that. I have also had a chance to shoot a Sig X5.

Based on that limited experience, I can say that the trigger on the P226 SAO cannot compare to the X5's. It is okay, but still kind of heavy. The break is clean, though. I have shot other SAO triggers that are way better IMO - 1911's and non-1911's alike. The X5's trigger is very nice and it seems to be finely tuned for competition shooting.

          Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks guys for the input, its nice to hear from some people who have had experience with them. Coming from 1911s, I think it might be a little hard to step down to this trigger based on the way it sounds... I think I'll probably hold off for now on the purchase. Thanks again!

1911 triggers will spoil you but my P226 Elite SAO has a very nice trigger pull. There's some slack then a clean break. The pull is lighter than my Glock so I'm guessing around 4.5 to 5 lbs. The reset is nice and distinct, not quite SRT like but much better than the stock DA/SA trigger.

If you are comparing it against a 1911 trigger, your assessment that it is a step down might be correct

                Good luck!

I'm picking up a P226 X5 Competition SAO next Monday. I plan to have it on the range about 30 minutes later, so I'll let you know how it shoots! :-)
