What job? Are you with GARDA? Is it a self-defense? Home-defense? Paper punching? Mob riots? Or may be it's you leading the mod riots?

There is no point to argue about the handgun calibers. Remember, you need your handgun only to make your way to the rifle, if you happen to get into real SHTF scenario. Otherwise, 9mm will do the job. Keep practicing with it. Your accuracy is way more important than the caliber.

I was talking with a few mates the other night about guns and shooting. The topic came up, whats the most superior hand gun round.

I explained that the 9mm is most superior and its the handgun of choice by "most" law enforcement and miltary. Anywhere from its mag capacity to the velocity of the bullet.

The other two friends stated its most definitely the .45 cal bullet due to size, etc.

Anyone wanna shed some light on this topic so I can put this to rest over the weekend?

Typical noob musing. No matter how powerful or how large the bullet, not going to do anything with out good shot placement. Even a 22LR can be lethal with the right shot placement.
