The problem with the question in the title is that not all magazines are equal. Some won't feed properly, some don't disassemble easily, etc...

I like the Wilson Combat 47D mags and the Chip McCormick magazines. They've served me well.

P.S. Any qualifiers for what you are searching for? 7 Round? 8 round? 10 round? Drop pad? No drop pad?

CDNN has some of the best prices around on mags. I'm not a 1911 guy, so I wouldn't know how to even begin assessing the quality of their selection.

I'd get the Chip Mccormick power mags. Right now they're on sale at midway

They have probably the strongest mag tube and feedlip out there. Stock they have a metal follower which can gouge an alloy frame but is fine in a steel frame.

I've ordered Wilson 47D's from Shooters Plus for my aluminum-framed Kimber. "Shooters Plus" (Zack) is a vendor and sometimes posts on the Commercial Marketplace forum. Flat-rate shipping and good service.

I got some from Midway a few years ago that were like $4 each if you got 10...so I got 10. Fun for plinking but not exactly the highest quality (they are worse then the factory Kimber mags which isn't easy to find!).

I've got a few of the 8-rd stainless chip mccormick shooting stars, and a few clones of the shooting stars.

From a reliability standpoint, I can't tell them apart. They are much beefier than the factory mags and feed flawlessly.

As usual you get what you pay for. Cheap mags are exactly that, and most 1911 mags that come with factory guns need to be thrown out or used only as charging mags for IDPA. I have been using CMC Powermags and they work perfectly. It is better to have 3 mags that work 100% than 10 that don't work at all.

I agree with this assessment. I have some Tripp Cobra mags and they work great. cheap mags will cause jams.

I bought my Wilson Combat 7-rounders for my dad's Kimber from MidwayUSA for a reasonable price. Too bad I don't have C&R FFL or I would have better pricing.
