    P220 SAO...?

    I've been thinking of a full-sized metal framed .45 ACP.

    Not a big fan of std. DA pistol triggers, and outside of a MkII .22LR, all of my auto pistols are Glocks.

    But, to my hand, the G21 is a brick, and a single-stack is fine by me (see G36), and I don't see Gaston making a single-stack version any lifetime soon.

    So I was looking at the Colt and Springfield Armory SA autos, as well as the P220 because it gets a lot of good press for accuracy and reliability (and I shoot one a bit as it is an issue carry of a LEO shooting buddy of mine).

    Then I came across this:

    P220 SAO

    Looks pretty good to me, compared to, say, a SAI Operator?

        I don’t have one and haven’t shot one, but to out Glock a Glock, what about the S&W M&P45?

        That said, I highly recommend the standard SIG-Sauer P220.

          LOVE THEM!

          I currently have a Sig P220 Carry Elite SAO with Gray Guns work.

          I also had a regular Sig P220R SAO, that I sold to fund the above Elite. I never would have sold it if it weren't for the Gray Guns work.

            @OP here's a SAO for sale if you're interested. (it's not my listing & I am in no way affiliated with it. I saw the posting & remembered your thread here)

              First off, thanks for the responses.

              @jessegpresley:

              I looked at the DAK, though I have decided that the 5.5# triggers on my Glocks are about my upper limit for accurate shooting, in fact, I'm considering a "-" connector for my G36.

              @M. D. Van Norman:

              Haven't looked at them, though I heard that they had some accuracy problems, but haven't confirmed that. I'll give them a look.

              @ruddogg:

              As implied (or inferred), I have a G36 and am Extremely Happy with everything about it, so the short-barreled and heavier "carry" model would be redundant a/o superfluous. The longer barrel and heavier metal frame are, in this case, somewhat of a plus (although I'll check on the M&P's).

              Thanks,

                The single-action trigger pull on a standard P220 is rated at 4.4 lbs.

                The SAO version is actually rated at 5.0 lbs.

                  I had a Sig P220 Super Match. It was SAO but the wood grips made it incredibly thick. I decided a Les Baer was a better platform for a SAO 45ACP. Anyways here's some pics of the Super Match.

                    I have one, it's a good handgun with a good trigger. But I do prefer my 1911s, not a fan of the Sig's slide stop placement. Mine is just a range toy do not use it for carry or HD.

                      I'd certainly take a SIG 220 before a SA Oper.

                      But then, I'm a big 220 fan (220 & 220ST)...and that is the DA/SA ones. I'm not a fan of the SAO 220, but only because I don't see the need. Plus I'm not a great fan of the feel or placement of the SIG's thumb safety.

                      If you become interested in the M&P45, don't worry about the accuracy. That had to do with the early 9mm models due to the smaller frame M&P's being optimized for the .40.

                      An excellent combination would be to add the Apex Tactical Forward Set Sear action kit...it give s a very 1911-like trigger feel (I'm not sure they offer the kit for the M&P45 yet, you'll have to call)
