Bay Area M&P Shield SSE

I don't think this has been fully answered in any of my searching.

Who in the Bay Area does SSEs for M&P Shields? Specifically 9mm. How much do they charge for SSE? Transfers from out of state allowed? Fees?

I know Placer Tactical does it, but they're out of stock...

Stores That Can SSE:

• Calgunner ASD1 - $700 Out the door
• Tracy Rifle & Pistol - $150 (including out of state transfer fees) + tax
• Cordelia Gun Exchange - $Unknown - will start doing them (and work out fee schedule) in late November

Stores That CANNOT SSE:

• Mount Pleasant Arms - Peter Said No
• Metal Dog Tactical - Tunis Said No

A local SSE is the unicorn. The M&P itself isn't that hard to find at decent prices (way lower than the marketplace) There's other ways to do it (out of state SSE) but been quoted prices 1/3 the value of the gun.

Well that depends entirely on where you live. I think driving an hour or two to SSE a gun that is still extremely difficult to purchase new in CA is fairly reasonable and anyone not willing to do so is bound to spend the several years making threads on Calguns looking for one.

Times two. Once to buy and a second trip to pick it up after the ten day wait.
I consider myself lucky as I got my SSE 9mm Shield fifteen miles from my home.

M&P is SHIELD agents side arms on the show.

They block the mag well with a device (usually wood) so that the gun will only feed one round. In the case of the Shield they will need to install a barrel that is around 7"+ in length so that the overall length of the gun meets a certain length, 9 or 10" IIRC.

Then it is a single shot pistol. You take possession of it. Take it outside with your receipts and anything/anyone else you brought with you. Maybe go put your paperwork back in your car. Then return to the gun store where they take their SSE kit out and replace it with your factory parts.

Cant tell if serious because that sounds pretty stupid haha... what allows you to convert it to normal after you have left the shop? you can own an off roster just cant buy one without it being SSE?
