P226 Short Trigger/Wolff Hammer Spring?

I'm thinking about putting a SRT into my p226 and replacing the standard trigger with the short trigger. I'm able to find the SRT for order but cannot seem to find a short trigger in stock. Does anyone know where I can find one?

Secondly, I've seen some reviews from people who have decided to change out the factory hammer spring and put in one of the Wolff 17, 18, or 19lb springs. Thoughts? Pros and cons?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Why do you want the short trigger? Is the stock too much of a reach for you?

I do recommend the SRT and it's easy to install.

Unless you plan to shoot competitively and you plan on using light loads....My opinion is to keep it all factory stock springs...tried and true sig

The short trigger is good for small hands, but it can pinch your finger if you have regular-sized hands.

SRT is a good upgrade though. I run the SRT in every one of my Sigs except the one that GrayGuns worked over, that one has their custom action that works just like the SRT.

Changing out the springs are really only useful if you are reloading +++++P loads (heavy) or shooting competition(light).

Playing with the springs to change the trigger weight kind of defeats the safety factor you get from the DA pull.

BTW: I usually get my OEM Sig parts from either Midway or Topgunsupply.com, both are out of the short trigger.

Yeah I was wary about the springs but was wondering if there was something I was missing that would be considered a must-have improvement. As for the reach, my hands are on the smaller side and for double action with the standard trigger, the pad of my index finger is not exactly where I want it.

my first P226 impressed me in every way, except that it had a trigger reach that was a bit too far for my liking. i picked up a short trigger, and tried it out. before i finished the first magazine my finger was pinched red. i went back to the original trigger and happily found that the trigger reach wasn't so bad afterall.

Sig has been making the P226 for 29 years. What makes you think you know better than the SiG designers and engineers what springs and parts should be in it for optimum reliability??? As soon as you start messing with the original design parameters you invite stoppages and failures.

I also recommend the SRT. SiG Sauer had the short reach trigger in stock back on Sept. 12 when I bought two of them. (so far I am only using one)

another thing to consider...maybe try someone's P226 with the E2 grips. There are many E2 grip conversion kits out there. But find someone that has one to check out first to see if..that would work for you. http://www.topgunsupply.com/sig-saue...-kit-p226.html

FYI: I've seen a few used short triggers on the market and most of them are either factory take offs or someone who installed it and then hated it and took it off again.

I have medium/small hands and the standard trigger is borderline for me, I just learn to deal with it.

I've changed the hammer (main) to a 18lbs spring. I use my gun for 3-gun. With the 18lbs I've had 100% reliable ignition. That's with CCI and Winchester primers. Truth be told I also had no ignition issues with the 17lbs spring, but went to the 18lbs spring just to be safe. The difference between the 17 and 18 was negligible, but was very noticeable from stock. The DA pull is about 7 to 8 lbs. The SA pull lost maybe a half pound. Its really a cheap upgrade and easily installed or removed.

Modifications that I did for my P226: 1. Get the SRT, it's a whole different gun after you install it; 2. Get the E2 grip; 3. Don't go lower than 20 lbs on your hammer spring if you plan on using it as a HD gun. I put night sights on mine but I don't think it really makes much of a difference.

-1 on the short trigger, I got pinched too & hated it

no experience with changing out the spring. Didn't like the E2 grips either.

I highly recommend the short reset trigger. I just had a short reach trigger I stalled on my P226mk25. I am undecided about it so far.

Another +1 for the SRT kit.
If the e2 grips don't do it for you one of Hogue's offerings may help. I put their rubber grips on my 229 and it made a huge difference for me. I thought about trying the short trigger but decided the money would be better spent on ammo.
