    FN Five Seven for rental

Anyone knows a range in the OC area with an FN Five Seven for rental? I would love to try out before committing to one is possible. Handled it before, but never shot one.
I'd rather be at the range!

I was bored, so I called them up (they're open until 10pm every day). They do have a 5-7 for rent, and they have ammo for it as well.

That's a mighty expensive .22 magnum...seeing as that's all the ballistic performance you will get from a pistol barrel.

If you think a 5-7 is the equivalent of a 22 magnum you might want to do more research.

The round was designed for the much longer barrel of the P90 sub-gun. Out of a 4" barrel, any ballistic advantage is taken away, and now you get .22 magnum ballistics, performance, and effective range.

22 magnum from pistol vs level 2 vest = live
5.7 from pistol vs level 2 vest = dead

22 magnum from pistol vs level 3a vest = live
5.7 from pistol vs level 3a vest = pain but alive

                  Any questions?

No questions, because the FMJ and armor piercing rounds are not sold to civilians in America. The sporting ammo sold here, will not penetrate LVLII vests.

                      wrong.

ss195lf and ss197sr are sold here, will penetrate a level II vest AND are readily available to any civilian that chooses to buy it. I've seen some of these rounds penetrate level IIIA vests at different times.

AND if you look around you can find ss190 and ss198lf for sale at a premium, sold to civilians.

Don't kid yourself about the effective penetration and lethality of the 5-7 round.

You can call it a 22magnum if you want, but I do not want to be the test subject against this round even with a IIIA vest on.

This is the Iron Sights range in Oceanside? If it is, you and I could make a drive down there and try that out haha.
I'd rather be at the range!

195 and 197 are both hunting/target rounds. Even FN says they won't penetrate from a handgun barrel. ATF agrees. 190 also shows it does not have the energy to penetrate at handgun velocity.

From a 10" or 16" barrel, you have complete performance from all bullet types. But that's not what we are discussing.

Velocity and energy are roughly equal to .22 magnums, albeit much more expensive per shot.

Great conversation. You can buy every known bullet for the 5.7 or PS90 on www.gunbroker.com EXPENSIVE though. When you go to the range, try to bring another gun with you and compare your groupings. It's shocking how much of a better shooter the 5.7 makes you
