    Doesn't make sense!

When i check out SigSauer's website, i see that so many pistols are not CA approved. I don't understand why some are and some aren't when they are so similar. Both the P220 and P226 platinum elite models are listed as not CA approved. Many of the two-tone pistols are also not CA approved. Then why is it i can find some at shooting ranges?

It's a screwed up law, each gun must be approved seperately, in each caliber and each color combo available. Pretty much every gun on the planet could pass the DOJ test, but for each model there is a pretty decent fee so some of the less popular colors or calibers won't be submitted for approval.

Individual models and finishes are approved separately. The Platinum Elites are new, and don't have the features required to be added to the list.

I really like Sigs and 1911s (except Series 80), but it's personal preference.

For some, Glocks work better. Others want lighter, heavier, smaller, larger, whatever.

Smith & Wesson's M&P line. Great guns for great prices.

IF you got the extra coin, look into a Browning Hi Power or the 1911s.

Since you live in OC may I recommend OC indoor range. It is a very nice range, staffs are top notch in term on friendly and knowledgeable. And their price is great. If you think you are going to shoot at least more than twice a week, join the monthly member. For 30 bucks, you can shoot any day any time.

And for starter, any 9mm in Glock, M&P, XD, will not disappoint you. Also, definitely try rent and shoot one at the range before you buy them. Pistols feel lot different when you shot than just hold it in your hand.

Gun Control - A theory espoused by some monumentally stupid people; who claim to believe, against all logic and common sense, that a violent predator who ignores the laws prohibiting them from robbing, raping, kidnapping, torturing and killing their fellow human beings will obey a law telling them that they cannot own a gun.

I'm big on CZ's, 1911s and SIG's...not too big on polymer frames. I like steel =)

Rent until you find a gun that makes you happy.

Can you imagine if they passed similar laws for automobile industry.

                    Senario:

"Yes that black car with leather interior passed the test but if you want to sell the red car with cloth interior we need to test it as well with more fees."

                    It will never fly.
'Cuz big holes are easier to see.
