Ruger Security Six - Good/Bad Deal?

Any thoughts on this Security Six for $499? Would you buy?

Well, it certainly looks really good---very much like new---I would say the price is just at about the max I would consider for that revolver---would feel better at $450, but the gun sure looks great.
I currently own two Security Sixs---4" blue and the same in stainless---both shoot great and I consider the Sec Six one of the finest med frame revolvers ever made...

        Ruger

I own one as well. Great gun! For me $500.00 is a little on the high end. But in excellent condition I would be tempted.

I agree with these guys. Not a great price, but not horrible either. Very fine revolver!

I don't know how common these are in local shops and not being on the roster, you can't have it brought in from out of state. So if you have been looking around and finally have your chance at one in such nice condition (at least from the pictures) GET IT.

Ask yourself this. Living in a state that makes certain models of handguns so difficult to obtain, is saving fifty bucks enough of a reason to pass up the opportunity?

Get it. Most of these saw serious use and are beat up.

20 years from now, you can brag about the great deal you got.

I think I paid $250 for mine in 1987. I'd have a hard time paying $500 for one(I'm cheap and have one that I don't shoot already) but, $450 would make me look at it twice.

I have a 2.75" Speed Six that shoots great and is very accurate. I haven't been looking around, but that one looks super clean. If you've been wanting one I wouldn't let $50 stop me on one.

Agreed, $450 in blued. I'd probably shell out $500 if it were SS, in that same condition.

Hell, I remember I paid right about $104 OTD (I saw the receipt a few years back) from the Brass Rail gun shop in Hollywood (loooong gone)---this was a blued 4" orig model Security Six (changed grip design later)---it was my first "Real" handgun after a couple of 22s. Revolvers were still cool back then, and I still like 'em!
