    M&P Pro C.O.R.E. question

Since this is off roster, and if I can't find one from an LEO willing to sell. Is there a way to purchase another type of M&P Base that you could buy then build up to be the CORE model?

You can go thru FFL who does SSE. I used impact guns and Peter from MParms in SJ for my pro.

CORE uppers are not sold separately. 44mag.com had some for sale, but that's because they possibly bought a number of complete pistols and parted them out.

You can buy off roaster pistols via SSE. See sticky thread at the top of the California Handguns section. Because of laws pending signature by the governor, SSE may become a thing of the past beyond this December. Looks like Jerry Brown just vetoed the SSE ban.

If you're in Ventura, Islandview Enterprises sells the CORE and does SSE on M&Ps.

I got my slides from 44mag, but like fmunk mentioned they bought whole pistols and parted them out..

Probably easier to SSE a core pistol... I did it this way to save on an SSE.

If I'm not mistaken it just has an optic mount or rail.

It would probably be way easier to just buy a standard M&P and have a smith drill and tap a rail mount or SSE the CORE out right.

Not true. And modifying a standard slide can cost more, depending on who you go to and how well they do it.

To the OP, I just picked one up from Grabagun and sent it over to MPArms to do the SSE. SSE or not, the M&P Cores in 5" have been a PITA to find instock

I called sw and after 49 minutes on hold they did say that the model we can purchase here in Cali can and will accept the slide. However, that being said, they currently are not selling just the slide.

I contacted a sse and he said there was no barrel available for sse? Ill check with the aboved mentioned dealers. Thanks for the heads up.

It just depends on which FFL who's doing the SSE has the barrel to do this or not. It will be more costlier to mill your own slide down the road if you plan to go that route by purchasing a M&P vs an Optics Ready one. As for finding those slides on sale, they pop and and sell out quickly if you can ever get your hands on one.

Call OC Armory regarding SSE. As for a CORE model being on the CA roster, it is NOT on the roster. Not sure what the S&W rep you spoke to was thinking. There are M&P models on the roster but none of them are the CORE models (at least not what I can see with a quick look).

SSE or one that is already in the state are your only options.

The CORE upper sold by 44mag was a one-time only thing; according to them. Don't count on lightning to strike again. A few online dealers have full pistols in stock right now. They are not that hard to find.

I think what the rep was saying was if you can find the core slide that it will fit and work on any ca compliant m&p9...

This what I ended up doing... Also bought the backstraps to complete the look.

EBR Works in Newbury Park has universal SSE kits that work on any pistol, 380 to 45. The owner is a great guy.

Grabagun.com tends to have the best price...put a stock watch in, they get them in stock regularly. That's where I got mine in 40S&W. http://grabagun.com/firearms/handgun...-9mm-17-1.html

                            This 9mm is in stock:

You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
                            Come on...what harm??
