    Grease

Was wondering if any of you guys use Bel-ray waterproof grease on your guns.

At the gun store, a employee told me to I could use any grease that has a high temp tolerance without silicone. He said silicone is bad. Any truth?

I was cleaning out closet last night and found a new tub of Bel-Ray, I don't know how it got there. Would it be ok to use?

I don't know why silicone is bad, silicone impregnated cloth for cleaning guns are all over the place and most have used it for years without detrimental effect.

I just don't know what the effect to guns are, should it be a component of gun grease.

I have been using this Diawa Synthetic Fishing Real grease I got a while ago. Its good stuff, stays where I want it. Normally I would get the south bend fishing real grease because its clear but I couldn't find it at the time. The Diawa stuff is a dark blue and when you get it on you, you will know it.

        Bel-Ray is a blue-green. I'm thinking about using it.

          Don’t really need high temp.
          You do need EP Grease.

I use lubriplate 105 on ALL of my semi auto pistols. Grab a tube @ Napa for 8 bucks and you are set for life.

Many prefer white lithium grease. Lubriplate 130A was originally developed for the M1 Garand and is a favorite of many shooters. It is white and can be found just about everywhere at reasonable prices. Good stuff.

                I have a tube of Aeroshell 33MS.
Have not used it but hear is supposed to be good.
I will try it on my next AR build.
I'm also thinking of trying it on my Handgun rails.

I use Locktite on all my guns. Blue for 9mm and smaller, red for everything else. ;-)

Silicone won't harm a guns and can be a OK lube, just not necessarily the best? Why would you need a "high temp" grease on firearms unless you were shooting full auto is beyond me?
Just about any general purpose oil or grease will work fine on a gun and that include good old 3in1 oil, common "white Grease". So use whatever you have that's at hand.

*I use Tetra gun grease and/or break free - Corrosion X on my guns.

I've been using frog lube on all my guns for about a year now because it's non toxic. Stuff runs like a champ.

I was a fan of frog lube but not so much anymore. I use it for cleaning where I find it to be great. But that's all.

For lubing, I use shooter's choice from time to time on my Glocks. It's OK. Not sure if it's good or bad but it works. I use oil more often on my 1911's.

So that, when you are on your third or fourth clip of ammo for your M1 Garand, sitting out in the hot sun? ...you don't have to end up eatin' it. (or having it run into your nice wood stock)
