    Glock Mag Question

I bought a couple more Glock mags because you can never have too many, and one has this notch down the side of it and no "SF notch" in the front:

The one on the right, obviously

It loads up fine, I havent had a chance to go shoot with it yet, but just wondering what the difference is. Comparing it to the rest of my mags, thats the only difference. Followers are same, floorplates, and fully metal encased.

Show more pics. One is probably a gen 3 mag, the other is a gen 4. All new shipping glock mags are gen 4.

I don't know what that is. I have both the gen 3 and gen 4 mags for my 20 and my 23 and I've never seen anything like it. Maybe its not an actual factory mag? I've seen unmarked Korean mags that look just like factory but those grooves have me baffled.

the bottom one seems to have more metal in the front as a feed protector i guess glock has made so many little improvements it would take a book

One on the right is Gen 2 and an early 10 round limit version.

Glock limits magazine capacity by using internal "rails" (molded into polymer, metal lining formed over it) to limit how the cartridges stack so that it has a 10 round capacity.

Mag on the right is an early version where they indented the magazine instead of forming an internal "rail".

                Generally...
Gen 1 = NFML with standard mag catch
Gen 2 = FML with right side mag catch
Gen 3 = FML with right side mag catch + front side mag catch
Gen 4 = FML with right side mag catch + front side mag catch + left side mag catch

It confusing, it has all the same markings as my others, and youre right, my older ones do have the metal up a little higher in the front - but the plastic is the same height.

Im going to take them out and shoot them tomorrow to test function, seems to be fine

Its been solved! Thanks bud, that makes sense. Cant swap out a spring and follower to increase capacity with a slender inner structure
